Sunflower Slice is one part of a series of four paintings. Each of the paintings is a particular hue. Each color is represented by a close-up flower section, bright light, and that particular hue. Yellow is represented here along with a bright sunflower. A small canvas was chosen in order to restrict the larger image of each flower.
Tulip City is reminiscent of rows of soldiers marching forward, right up to the viewer. The fresh aroma rising from this sea of tulips is carried along on the wind as these flowers begin to awaken.
Dead of winter and still snowing, this painting captures the chill in the air. Done in tones of violet, the viewer is brought along on a trip through the past, possible riding in a wagon to the farm beyond.
My first perspective at capturing the great Smoky Mountains is in this two part canvas. I see this vista as an ethereal, magical place to loose one’s self. Finding a beautiful mystery can be as simple as remembering a scene in your mind.
I’m working on a series of outdoor wilderness pieces because I’m interested in water and reflection. My newest piece, “Crappie Time”, this has to do with fishing equipment and experiences with nature and the outdoors. This work is done in water based oils on a 12″x16″ gallery wrapped canvas. It was challenging to get the likeness of the crappie with it’s specific pattern but I am pleased with the end result.
Thanks for viewing. Check back often for new works available.
